I am so happy to have found this information. I have been researching pokeweed and can't believe how many years I, as an herbalist, tried to get it out of my yard and gardens. Now, I can't wait to start working with it. All of my "modern" herb books call it a poison, but I found some information in a Native American Herb book that triggered my interest. Thank you for all the wonderful input!

I sure miss the forum! I'm glad you were able to post about this; I was beginning to lose hope we'd ever get it back! I figured it had been an attack, the redirect was a dead giveaway. Good luck cleaning it out and thanks for your work!

Well, thanks for sharing this to us. This is really a great one. Especially we cannot deny that we have left-overs inside our fridges and its not good if we'll just throw it away so this is really a great idea. Keep on posting!

I used to suffer from regular bouts of bladder infection. I had to take medication that made me a little sick. So, one of my ballet teachers (I owned a school) came by to visit me once when I was ill and she brought with her a large container of distilled water and a bag of flax seed. She said, lets put a stop to this. She recommended that I sit back and relax while she made me a cup of flax seed tea and that I should continue to have 3 or 4 cups of tea each day using pure water, for as long as I had discomfort. Almost immediately, I saw a result of pain subsiding and the irritation of the bladder started to get better. Gradually, I started having less and less problems in this area. I was seeing a Urologist at that time and had been diagnosed as someone with a small opening in that area that leads from the bladder(I can't spell the term). He said he saw no problem using the remedy. I remember this well because of the beautiful experienced ballet dancer who used home remedy such as this to continue to dance and she had overcome crippling arthritis by removing all the known bad things from her diet. I came on this site to read the recipes for flax seed tea because I just bought a fresh bag of flex seed. I have removed coffee from my morning schedule and thought I might replace the traditional morning drink with flaxseed tea. I suffer from indigestion/GERD. So I thought I would help several things with this tea.

We render our lard using a large electric roaster. It works great, but is an all day process. Today's project isn't quite finished, but when we do finish tonight, we'll end up with 13 quarts of beautiful lard. (We have access to fat, because we raise hogs.)

My mother always called dandelion greens Shi-gaw-die as did my Italian aunts from Italy. They used to come over to our house with "shigawdie" pickers and pick dandelions of which there was no shortage. My mom also said the greens were like endive so she always used them in salad. In the summer, she would tell us to "go outside and pick some shigawdie for dinner...hurry up before your father gets home!" There were 7 of us kids...we'd have to pick quite a lot.

I am always looking for good gluten free recipes without xanthian or any type of gums since they are an msg and make me sick whenever I eat them I also cannot have dairy but will substitute coconut milk which is hard to find without guar gum or citric acid but not impossible. It you can't have gluten you are often affected by msg in it many forms so always something to look out for. You can find out more information on the truth in labeling website if you are interested
